Formal dance #9

In formal dance we have been learning 5 dances including the salsa, the waltz, the line dance, the rock and roll reel and the jitterbug. These dances are really fun but my favorite dance is the jitterbug because you get to make up your own dance with 5-7 dance moves. We normally do formal dance everyday but sometimes the day gets to busy, I'm very excited for the actual formal last year it was really fun.

Chorus box #8

Chorus and the Oaklands school student leaders have teamed up to paint one of Chorus' boxes. first we had to design what was going on the box then we had to get that design checked by Chorus to ask if we could start painting, they then replied yes. A laddie from the ccc then came with paints and brushes so we could start the painting. The first group went down to the box, they had to scrub and then put the white base coat on. the next group went down a couple days later and put the second white base coat on, then the third group went down and started the coloring/drawing. soon we will be done and it will look very pretty.

Run, jump, throw #7

Last week Leeana and I spoke and helped out the junior run, jump, throw. This task included saying the opening speech, making the sprint track, playing music, ringing the bell and calling the names of the sprint finalist (the names were hard to pronounce). my favorite part of run, jump, throw was helping out the junior side of the school they are fun to teach.

The care value that I showed was community by helping out the school community.

The leadership trait that I showed was active thinking by actively thinking about what I had to do 

Wellington trip #6

A couple weeks ago I went to wellington with all the year 8's. At take off I enjoyed watching my city turn small but I did NOT enjoy walking. I showed leadership by using my leadership traits on the plane and around the city. I showed all my care values in wellington. What I enjoyed the most was hanging out with my friends and making lots of memories.

Leadership technology #5

On Thursday we went to technology, at technology I'm doing science. In science we were doing robotics. Robotics is not fun, very boring. The bus rides to Lincoln are very fun I sit next to lots of my friends on the bus. 

The CARE values I showed were respect because I respected the bus driver by talking quietly.

The leadership quality I showed was active thinking because I was actively thinking about what I was doing at tech.

E9.  Research an important person or event in NZ’s history. Present your findings.

Richie McCaw has lead his team to victory three times and been motivational, resilient and a true leader to his whole team. Richie McCaw was captain for the Crusaders and for the All Black , He leed the All Blacks 3 times when winning the Rugby World Cup and holding the trophy above his head. Richie McCaw reminded the world of his brilliance as a leader when he lifted the Webb Ellis Cup in 2011, 2015 and 1987, battling through a troubling foot injury to claim rugby’s greatest prize.The all blacks have won three times, 2nd place once, 3rd place twice and 4th place once with Riche and players that have retired. Not only has Richie McCaw had a lot of victories, he never gave up on his teams.

Richie has never givin up he has kept on trying and never letting his team down while playing a game for the All Blacks or the Crusaders.Treatment for Richie injury meant he missed the early stages of Investec Super Rugby in 2012. Richie quickly made his presence felt when he rejoined his Crusaders teammates, again he lead the way with both his work-rate and skill with ball in hand. Richie McCaw lined up for the 550 km event as an official member of the Cure Kids team and supported the charity. Richie McCaw is a fantastic example of a great male leader that shows all the leadership qualities.

Excellence key leadership role #5

On Tuesday the student leaders had a meeting with Mr Ladbrook.

We firstly talked about the chorus box we are doing.

Then he said that he had sent an email to our parent's to see if they could supervise us while we are painting it. 

After that he said to think about what part of the box do we want to paint.

Then Mr Ladbrook asked us if we have or are close to getting our excellence badge and most of the student leaders hadn't.

I showed repect by listening to Mr Ladbrook when he was speaking.

I was also being trustworthy by showing up to the meeting on time.

Excellence technology post #4

On Thursday the year 7/8's had technology we traveled on two buses to get to Lincoln primary school which takes about 10-15 minutes to get there.
When we got there we walked to our classes and in my case it was to design and textiles.
The first thing we did was watch a video on how we can make sand out of beer bottles and how we are losing lots of sand.
Next we got three planning sheets the first one we had was about what things we wanted to make.
The second sheet was about three options on what we could do.
Finally we did the last one and that was about our final design we are going to do.

I showed community by putting my rubbish in the bin a morning tea instead of littering because it wasn't my school.

I was also being trustworthy by doing what I was meant to at the right time.

Operations using fractions, percentages, decimals and integers.

In Maths we have been learning to: Understand operations using fractions, percentages, decimals and integers.

Something that challenged me during this unit of learning was the lazer blazer task because there were lots of hard Q's in the work sheet

My next step is to continue to apply these strategies to real life/ problem solving situations.

Key leadership role #4

Today the leaders had a meeting in our classroom through morning tea, this is the first time we have ever had a meeting through morning tea because we usually have them just throughout the eating time. We mainly talked about the trip we are going on to do the mural and I cant wait it sounds like so much fun! I showed respect by listening and sitting quietly. I showed leadership by not worrying about having to do the meeting through lunch. I was a role model by giving ideas what we could do for the mural.

NZ identity (ANZAC Day)

WALT: Write an effective argument for our chosen political party.

Is National the best Party to vote for? Personally, I believe that Green’s is the best party to vote for.
The three policies that I like are, guarantee children the right to be educated at their local school, extend free doctor visits to people under the age of 18 furthermore increase health funding.
The first policy I will explain is Guarantee children the right to be educated at their local school.

My first policy that I like is, guarantee children the right to be educated at their local school.
The Green Party believes that every child has a right to be fully included and thrive in the education system. But the education act does not give all children the right to attend their local school.
I believe that students should be guaranteed to get an education close to home.
Children with friends that live close to their home leads to children having more friends so they get out more.
Children get exercise when/if they walk to school because it is close to their homes and removes children obesity. I’m concerned that New Zealand is one of many countries with a problem with children obesity.
Children should be able to have eduction close to their home and also be able to go to a doctor for free.

My second policy that I like is, extend free doctor visits to people under the age of 18
The Green Party believes that early intervention and preventative care are the most cost effective approaches to improving health. But the National Government has cut funding for these services.
I believe these free visits should be for everyone under the age of 18, this should improve health outcomes for young people.
Less children will be dying of disease because people with low income can take their children to the doctor without taking money for food away from their family.
Children from 0-18 shouldn't have to pay for doctor's appointments and to make that possible increase the amount of money they give to these facilities.

My last policy that I like is, increase health funding
The Green Party believes that healthcare should be delivered by a well-funded public health system. Funding needs to keep up with growing needs but the government has underfunded the health system. As a result, too many people are missing out on crucial health care and healthcare is becoming a luxury.
If they increase the funding amount more cures will be found and scientist will be able to keep people in this world for longer.
I believe that if there are more immigrants and people coming to New Zealand there needs to be a better health system.
I’m know going to talk about a poor policy from the Labour party.

Labour wants to Abolish National Standards. I believe that this policy is outrageous.
Students can check their national standards so they know what to work towards.
Teachers use it as a tool in the learning area.
The national standards are a great way to measure a school/students success. In contrast greens does not want to get rid of national standards as it is a great aspect in the learning area.
This is the one reason you shouldn't vote for the Labour party and that you should vote for the Green party.

So there, clearly I have explain why Green’s is the best party.
Green’s policies are the strongest in education.
As shown above the three points are, Guarantee children the right to be educated at their local school, extend free doctor visits to people under the age of 18 and increase health funding.
Should you really vote for someone/a party that doesn’t support your needs? Vote for Green’s.

My next steps are:
I need to have more motive language.

Today we had a meeting with all the student leaders, we talked about our leadership blog posts.
In my leadership role I want to plan 1 event in the year and try and not get fired.
A good thing to remember for me is to do all my blog post and keep up to date.
The care value I showed was community because I showed up to the meeting.
The leadership value I showed was active thinking because I have done all the blog post I need to do.

C3. Teach a family member how to use an ICT tool that they are unfamiliar with (like the Flip, Google docs or a specific App)

I did this with my mum. The app on her phone I helped her use was Gmail because she needed to file her emails and didn't know how to file stuff on her phone.

On Wednesday we had a student council and we talked about fundraisers, what we are going to do and who the money will go toward. In term 3 we will be doing a ice cream day, me and the rest of the year 7/8 student council members are going to organise/plan where the ice cream is coming from and how much money it is going to cost.
The care value I showed was active thinking because the year 7/8's lead half of the meeting when Mrs Trotter was not there.
The leadership trait I showed was all of them because we took the lead we they were in need.

Take the two semicircles ends and find the radius, that is 36.5 then double that to make 73, then times that by pi which is 229.34 metres then you divide it by 2 which is 114.67 and that's what the ends are. For the sides you minus 400 with 229.34 which equals 170.66, half 170.66 which equals 85.33 that is the lengths of the sides.
