Student Led Conference

Careers Education C.V. Writing

In CAREERS EDUCATION we have been learning to write a skills based Curriculum Vitae.

A skills based C.V. focuses more on the skills that we have,  rather than our work history.

Here is a link to our online Modelling Book that shows the process we have followed.

Three things that I have learned about writing a Curriculum Vitae are:

That it is very important to have correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.

That it is an easy writing style to write.

What the skills are to obtain a job.

Here is a link to my Skills based Curriculum Vitae.

Excellence key leadership role #2

Today the student leaders had a meeting at morning tea it was about the art pieces we are going to paint, we also talked about high school I don't know why. I think I need to do more stuff within my role because I fell that I haven't done much. Both Anneke and Charlotte are encouraging me throughout my role.
The care value I showed was respect because I listened while Mr Ladbrook talked.
The leadership trait I showed was goal focused by talking about the goal so I can achieve it.

Excellence Technology blog post #2

At technology on Thursday we started making our speakers, we glued 2 188-188mm squares , 2 200-188mm squares and 1 200-200mm squares which mad a cube with out the top.
We then drew out two cross hairs for where the speakers are going, Mr Bowers then drilled the holes in the last square to put on top, We are yet to glue the top on because we have to get the cords and wires ready and paint it.
The care value I showed was community because I helped lots of the boys with the glue because they did not know how to.
The leadership trait I showed was active thinking because I was one of the few to finish my work in the time limit.

Home Learning Challenge #1

A6. Research a range of options for High School. Visit at least three different open nights.

  • Christchurch girls high school
  • Riccarton high school
  • Hillmorton high school
I can apply to receive a sport scholarship to get in to these schools.

At Hillmorton there was lots an lots of food same with Christchurch girls. The Riccarton open night was boring but the tour we went on was fun.

WALT: Reason with linear proportions I have been learning 3 WALTS

1.National Standard 1: Combine simple proportions to work out what parts the whole is made up in a unit of 10 like 3 yellow with 7 blue, 5 yellow with 5 blue, 4 yellow with 6 blue. Say what the fraction and percentage of each stack is for yellow and blue.
2.National Standard 2: - Combine proportions to work out what parts the whole is made up of using non-multiple of 10 like 8 yellow:5 blue:4 white with 11 yellow:11 blue:11 white (19:16:15 and 38%:32%:30%)
3. National Standard 3: - Order fractions with unlike denominators by finding a common denominator
My next step is:

Excellence Technology blog post #1

At technology we have been making pikelets and cheese pinwheels they were very tasty. This technology we were in groups of two, I was with Leeana. At lunch times at Lincoln we either play basketball or just talk. Mandarin is still pretty boring I got a sticker though and I got one for Leeana to.
The care value I showed was respect, to all the teachers.
The leadership trait I showed was goal focused as I had to complete multiple cooking tasks.

Text Composition

In reading we have been learning to….
recognize the way words, sentences and paragraphs are put together (eg sentences that express cause and effect) and use this knowledge to understand complicated texts.

Here is a link to our online modelling book

These documents show evidence of my learning during this unit:

Defining parts of speech
Types of sentences
Analyzing paragraph construction
Explain the relationship between components of texts.
Complex text analysis

My Next Step: Is to continue to apply this new knowledge of parts of texts, to help me make sense of increasingly complicated text types.

Excellence key leadership role #1

On the 29th of May all of the student leaders went on a trip to the city council in the CBD, we traveled by public bus into town to be greeted by one of the education leaders at the council that teachers students about the what the city council does. The student leaders completed multiple activities including an activity on budgeting. Shortly after that we walked to lunch [Huci Huci] and got sushi. After we had all finished eating we walked to the bus depot with some pit stops along the way like the broken cathedral.
The care value I showed was respect as we were in the public and I respected the people in the public.
The leadership trait I showed was trustworthy; I wasn't going to run away.
